Name: Inspector Lindsay Boxer
Nicknames: Boxer, Inspector, Linds
Age: 35
Hometown: Dallas, Texas
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Brown
Occupation: Homicide Inspector with the San Francisco Police Department
Background Check
History: Lindsay was born and raised in Dallas, Texas to a cop father and a housewife mother. Her mother was her primary caretaker growing up, due to her father’s work-related absences. Lindsay was an only child and molded by her father to become a whip-smart, independent, strong woman. She moved out to California after her parents divorced and attended high school in San Francisco. Upon graduation she entered the police academy and started her career with the San Francisco PD shortly after the death of her mother Audrey Connor.

She made Inspector four years later and married Tom Hogan when she was 28. The couple tried for a child back in 2003 but failed when she miscarried. They went through a painful divorce in 2006 after Lindsay’s obsession with the Kiss-Me-Not Killer, whose case she worked five years. Lindsay had a one-night-stand in late 2007 with Tom before his marriage to his now-wife Heather, which sparked a pregnancy scare. Lindsay learned that she’s actually anemic.

After investigating the death of a famed reporter, Lindsay adopted the victim’s dog Martha. At the end of 2007, the Kiss-Me-Not killer returned, and though the FBI is now in charge of the case, Lindsay has a hard time letting go. Her attic is full of information on Kiss-Me-Not's victim. In 2008, she learned that the FBI no longer considered her a target of the Kiss-Me-Not Killer, and after four months of surveillance, they backed off.

In 2008, after 7 years without contact with her father - a retired ex-cop who was on trial for accepting money from local mobster Dominic Bucci - he reappeared in her life, showing up in San Francisco. He warned Lindsay to watch her step while working a case where an undercover Narotics cop was murdered by a fellow undercover officer, reminding her that everyone was watching her every move. After closing the case, Lindsay said goodbye to her father and he left, presumably to return to Texas.
Psychological Workup
Personality: Lindsay is strong, stubborn, independent, and sarcastic. She possesses a very dry wit and sarcasm, which often carries over into her work.

Lindsay excels at her job – her instincts, ability to read crime scenes, and dedication to her work make her one of San Francisco’s finest. Solving crime is second-nature to Lindsay, but personal relationships – namely romantic ones – is a foreign concept to her. She unapologetically gives everything she has to her job, but has a group of trusted friends to help her keep her personal life on track known as the Women’s Murder Club. Lindsay has sworn off the personal conversation, compromise, and "uncomfortable undergarments" that come with romantic relationships, believing that her being alone is for the good of the dating population.

Lindsay has a lingering obsession over the "Kiss-Me-Not" killer, whose case she worked for five years, and she considers the destruction of her personal life an acceptable exchange for capturing him. Lindsay is dedicated to closing cases and escaping the shadow of her "dirty cop" father, but is not above bending the rules to get what she wants if it means closing a case.
Personal Contacts [Canon]
Martin Boxer: Lindsay’s father is a retired cop, currently living in Dallas. Martin is a dirty ex cop who was indicted for taking bribes and tries hard to make sure Lindsay doesn't make the same mistakes he did. Until 2008, it had been seven years since he last spoke with his daughter - presumably that being after her wedding to Tom and the trial. Lindsay is disgusted by her father and wants nothing to do with him, and as such will not return his phone calls.
Lieutenant Tom Hogan: Lindsay’s ex-husband and current commanding officer. The two have a slightly strained working relationship, mostly able to keep it professional until Lindsay blows up over a case. He is supportive of Lindsay but isn’t afraid to pull rank on her if she’s out of line, constantly worrying that Lindsay’s obsession with her work will consume her. However much they may argue about work, Tom is shown to be one of Lindsay's most avid supporters, even going so far as to threaten to turn a Narcotics Captain over to IAB if he kept harassing Lindsay. Tom is recently remarried to a kindergarten teacher named Heather.
Inspector Warren Jacobi: Jacobi is a thrice-divorced veteran of the San Francisco PD with an appreciation for wine, thirty-year-old whiskey and opera. He is Lindsay’s loyal partner who was passed over for Lieutenant (but doesn’t seem to mind) and often acts like an older brother to Lindsay. Lindsay would give her life for Jacobi, and trusts him deeply - sometimes even turning to him for advice on uncomfortable topics such as dating.
ADA Jill Bernhardt: Jill is the resident ADA and a member of the Club. She has a weak stomach and Lindsay will often leave a barf bag at crime scenes for her. Jill has a big kind heart - often told by her boss to "stop bleeding all over [her] sleeve" - with a soft spot for foster kids. She is loyal to Lindsay and has been known to risk her job to help Lindsay close a case.
Dr. Claire Washburn: Claire is the oldest member of the Club and a Medical Examiner for the San Francisco PD. She is married to her paralyzed husband Ed with two sons and often acts as a mother figure for Lindsay.
Cindy Thomas: Cindy is the youngest (and newest) member of the Club and a constant pain in Lindsay’s ass. She’s a crime reporter for the San Francisco Register and will often sneak up on Lindsay at crime scenes and the precinct, offering useful inside information to assist in cases. Though she has a tendency to get on Lindsay's nerves, Lindsay cares deeply for her and will sometimes act as a protective older sister.
